BIOGRAPHY
The tale of Giulia y Los Tellarini is one filled with coincidence and driven by the whims of destiny. It was destiny that brought Italian singer, Giulia Tellarini, with an accordion in her hands, to
Maik Maier studio in Barcelona where she met
Maik Alemany,
Jens Neumaier and
Alejandro Mazzoni. Immediately falling in love with her voice, these three musicians began with Giulia a project that was to draw on musical landscapes from all over the world: Mediterranean warmth, suggestive chanson, Latin tremendismo, Mexican tragedy and jazzy elegance. Following these musical paths, and with the help of various friends and fellow musicians, they created the songs on
“Eusebio” (Maik Maier, 2008), an album that is persuasive, wonderful and overwhelming.
Destiny then worked its wonders once again and a copy of “
Eusebio” found its way into the hands of Woody Allen who, won over by the music of Giulia y Los Tellarini, decided to include it in the soundtrack of “
Vicky Cristina Barcelona”, which he was filming in Barcelona at that time. In fact it is the song titled
“Barcelona” that he chose to be the film’s main theme, whilst another track, “
La Ley del Retiro”, was also picked to feature. In September 2010 was also internationally released another Woody Allen’s movie called
“You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger” featuring for the second time, music composed by the band.

BIOGRAPHY
One of the main ingredients of
"L'Arrabbiata" (Maik Maier, 2011) sauce, the second album of Giulia y Los Tellarini, besides garlic and tomatoes, is red chilli pepper, which is there to produce a special spicy taste. After the fiery burst of our first taste of the sauce, we recover but want more and more as we become addicted to the explosion. That is why this unique and intense Italian pasta sauce became loved around the world. Giulia y los Tellarini have been inspired by this idea of passion and intensity. The name “
L’Arrabbiata” itself means “Anger”. The band creates its own musical sauce by mixing a wide range of Latin rhythms. The result is a real explosion, a passionate cry for life.
Recorded by the seven piece band from Barcelona is excitingly eclectic and very varied. Through their 11 new songs the band explores new sonic territories, creating new rhythms and patterns and continue focus on all the world traditional musics, giving his own point of view of new styles never revisioned by the band like: Cabaret, Swing, Bossa Nova, Bolero, Salsa and also developing the musical styles that were inside the magic universe of their first album
“Eusebio”. The lyrics of the 11 songs are once again written in different languages: spanish, french, italian and english. By doing this the band continues promoting its international and eclectic nature, proving that the right choice of language is essential to a song and to the true expression of our feelings. The album is a compilation of some of the main Latin rhythms, which have been enriched by complex arrangements and a peculiar irony, constantly reaffirming a real complicity with the audience.

BIOGRAPHY
There are songs that reformulate genres, like the bolero (
“Loko amor”), the bossa nova (
“Caricias”), the ranchera (
“El gato de mi vecina”) or the flamenco and salsa (
“Maldita fe”). But you can also find some romantic and fatalistic swing (
“Le Parfum” and
“Gabriella”). This is one of the new aspects that distinguish this second album from the first,
“Eusebio”. There is also space for lyricism and confession (
“Turtle”) and the dramatic complexity of
“Jail”,
“Il ne m’aime pas” or
“Warszawa” could belong to a musical where the main characters live their life on the edge. Other songs like
“Il Cuore” show the madness that can exist in a greater celebration.
With this new album
“L’Arrabbiata”, Giulia y los Tellarini have perhaps left little space for intimacy. Maybe they have just chosen to tap on the table. Sometimes it is useful to get rid of the unnecessary, and speak directly. In the three years after their first album was internationally well received, the band has performed in countries like Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Russia, Poland, Turkey, Switzerland, and the UK, confirming its honesty by demonstrating a sentimental and musical complexity which can be interpreted in many different ways. Being a musician is not the easiest thing in the world and for everyone life itself is often very ambiguous and twisted. That is why we must dance to it.
